Below are the most Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any other query, feel free to use that contact form.
What kind of email addresses are compatible with spamCle@ner ?
spamCle@ner is compatible with POP3, POP3/SSL, IMAP and IMAP/SSL email servers. It is, in most cases, not compatible with free webmails except :
AOL : compatible using IMAP.
Yahoo! : compatible with paid accounts (Yahoo! Mail Plus) using POP3/SSL, not compatible with most free accounts except few ones allowing POP3 retrieval (eg : yahoo.fr).
If your email server uses a non-standard port (ex : 1100 instead of 110 for POP3), you can set up spamCle@ner to use that port.
How do I set up my email client to download incoming messages ? Is there any software to install ?
You only have to change the address of the email server and the username in your email client options panel. All informations will be sent to you when you sign up. spamCle@ner is an external service therefore you don't have any software to download/install, neither update nor maintenance to do. You can of course personalise the service and set up all options (display, filtering, black/whitelist etc) in your member area.
I signed up but I received a spam !
I am afraid it may not be the last one ! Unfortunately, few spams may get through the filtering process and there is no way you can expect an antispam service to give you a 100% reliability. However, spamCle@ner offers you many more options than any other similar service, thus you should be able to reach a better reliability, that is around 99.xx%. Just take the time to tweak it as some of the most important options (rejecting messages coming from unwanted countries etc) will quickly and safely help you to get rid of most of your spams and only very few should be able to bypass them.
How can I download a message that was wrongfully marked as 'spam' ?
Login to your account, select that message, click the menu [Action] and choose [Mark message as 'non-spam']. It will be moved to your inbox folder so that you can download it with your email client.
Is there any risk to loose a message if I am away for 15/20/30 days ?
Only messages tagged as 'spam' or 'virus' are deleted on a regular basis. The deletion frequency is up to you and can be set up from 7 to 45 days or even be disabled. To access this menu, log in to your account and select [MY ACCOUNT > Preferences > Spams & Virus].
Can I keep using spamCle@ner if I change my email address ?
Yes you can. You are allowed to change your email address at any time and as many times as you want during your membership. Log in to your account and select [MY ACCOUNT > Preferences > Email address parameters].
Is it possible to temporary deactivate spamCle@ner ?
Login to your account and click [MY ACCOUNT > Preferences > Temporary deactivation]. Note that only the retrieval of your messages will be deactivated. The webmail, the web contact form and your disposeable email won't be affected and will keep working as usual.
I lost my password ! What am I supposed to do now ?
Your password was sent to you when you signed up. If you lost that email too, there's no way to retrieve it. You must use that form to reset it. A new one will be sent to your current email address.
What is the "X-spamCleaner-user" garbage line includes in each email's header sent from the webmail ?
By default, most webmails include your IP address in the header of all outgoing messages, usually in the field "X-Originating-IP". spamCle@ner respects your privacy and considers that making such a personal data visible to everyone is not necessary. Therefore, your IP address is encrypted in a hash and remains confidential. That hash includes also various checksums that could be used to ensure the message is genuine and hasn't been tampered with in case someone would report an abuse.
Is there any daily/weekly/monthly limit to the number of messages processed or filtered by spamCle@ner ?
Whatever number of messages you receive, they will all be processed. You may have to take into consideration the anti-flooding system although it is very unlikely that it will affect your account.
